Hi everyone. I am posting in the hope someone may be able to help me with something I have tried in vane to find out about. I am helping my Daughter with a case she has. My Daughter has quite acute psychological issues, and she is adamant we do not involve a Solicitor. However, I just cannot find the relevant information I need to see whether we can apply for Legal Aid on our own, or do we have to be involved with a Legal Specialist? If anyone can give me the answer I will be extremely grateful, and also if they can signpost me to any relevant place to complete the process (if applicable). Thank You.

hello, you may not neccesarily need legal aid depending on "case" (one can not distinguish if she is claimant or defendant from your sentance nor if it is a money claim etc), help with court costs is available if on low income;*https://www.gov.uk/get-help-with-court-fees, making it not very expensive or free potentially (IF you are successful that is (you can be held liable for costs of other parties if not.).
legal aid is obtained from specialists (in specific fields of law) who may not be local to your area, and you have to have a good chance of winning for the "aid" in the first place (and yes by way of solicitors) - https://www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid (i.e. obtained via the .gov website who provide the money for service i believe), no win no fee more readily available...

kind regards.Find out how to get legal help if you're on a low income, including advice from a law centre or legal aid solicitor, and trial or tribunal representation by a pro bono barrister.
