  • Tree covering my window blocking light

My neighbours tree which is 1ft away from the boundary has grown to 10ft & is blocking my conservatory windows that are 8ft above their ground level. Nothing is overhanging. It is blocking the light out & ruining our enjoyment *

This is one of the trickier areas of neighbour relations. Whatever you do, proceed very carefully.
Firstly, have you tried speaking with the neighbour? Are they aware of the issue?

If that is not possible or is unsuccessful, you could speak with your local council to see whether the tree could be covered by the High Hedges Act, although usually that only applies to hedges and semi evergreen trees, but worth exploring.

Have your conservatory windows benefitted from the light for more than 20 years? If so, there may be some legal options under The Rights of Light Act 1959 - you can apply to court for the tree to be reduced in height.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )
