Hi, back in 2007 I took a loan with welcome finance, paid it every month until they went out of business. *Nobody ever made contact with me about the debt and I didn’t know who to contact. *A few months ago I received a letter from Shoesmith solicitors saying I owed them £20k on behalf of their client Cabot Financial who were chasing the debt on behalf of welcome. *They have included copy of a CCJ that I know nothing about from 2015 (sure enough it’s on my credit file), I never ever received any court documentation about this or had any correspondence up until now. * The original loan from welcome was 7k. *Is this legal, do I have to pay Shoesmith? *Any advice would be much appreciated. *I live in Scotland*
