Hi I have a rental property, in December 2019, the police discovered it contained a Cannabis farm, after clearing it they authorised a security firm to change the front door locks in order to make it secure. No-one contacted me at any point. I discovered the fiasco in February when following non receipt of rent I visited the property. I had to break in myself as my keys did not fit the new locks. I have since discovered a final demand from the security company for £250, to pay for their service as authorised by the police. Am I liable? I do not have malicious damage insurance cover & am already paying £3k for electricity to be re connected. The security company are already threatening court action, even though I have only been aware of this “bill” for just over a week. Advice much appreciated.*
Liability for service I did not authorise
