  • Parking fine form 3 years ago & debt collectors

    Hi all,

I have just been made aware that a debt collectors notice has been received at my parents address from a vehicle that I use to own. At the time I purchased the car I lived with my parents however then moved out hence why the letter went to their house. The debt collectors refer to a parking fine from 3 years ago which I never received any notice of - Im assuming that this also went to my parents or was lost in the post. Im just looking for some advice on where to go from here really? Can they enforce something from 3 years ago? I have no previous correspondence either from the alleged carpark or carpark management company prior to it being passed to debt collectors.

    Thanks

Normal advice is to ignore debt collectors but in this case write back, as the keeper at the time, and tell them this is the first time you have heard of the alleged debt and you deny any liability for it.* They must return the debt to ther client.
