  • Credit card debt from 20 years ago

Hello. I have a credit card debt from 20 years ago for just over £2000. I have heard nothing from them for 19 years but yesterday I had a letter from a debt collector saying " if you pay £450 now we will wipe out your debt" I do not know if I have a CCJ or not if I have what do I do if not what do I do? Can they do anything to get the money? Can they put a charge on my home that is owned with two other people in* 3 equal thirds? I am ill on the bread-line and care full time for my 86 year old mum. Many thanks

As it is more than 6 years old (5 for Scotland) then the debt will be statute barred and unenforceable if it hasn't been acknowleged.* You could write to them denying any debt exists and even if it did it would be statute barred.**
