  • Questions around Voluntary Termination - Please Help

Dear All, I initiated VT on the 10/03/2020 with Santander. They made contact on 12/03/20 to discuss the return. We instructed them today 13/03/20 to collect the vehicle for which they are charging £70 (issue 1) Pay or contest? Today 13/03/202 the service light came on (law od sods). Do I get it serviced before I return it or return as is? (issue 2). Also, the rims are not in great shape, local garage is charging £400 for refurbishment. Shall I get them done or let them bill me for it? (issue 3). Please help. Obliged

See the guide which should have everything you need to know to deal with this if you want to defend it, otherwise pay up.

@Rob: The article is extremely helpful (I referred to this article before initiating the VT). This might be an obvious question, please pardon my ignorance, but may I please ask your opinion on the servicing aspect? i.e. should I get it serviced before handing it back? (The car has been maintained by the main dealership and in all fairness, I would like to continue doing the same if the onus was on me to get it serviced, albeit it has become due today while the VT was initiated 3 days ago.) Once again thank you for your help and insight. Best

If you weren't required to get the servicing done at the time you exercised your VT right then you don't have to do it. Having said that if you want to and there is no additional cost or you are prepared to take the hit on the cost then that's entirely up to you.
