Thanks for your reply. They said the fine could be between £500 - £1000! Is that true? And if i ignore wont i be in any kind of problems? Im so worried because i have never ever done such a stupid thing. It was pure madness! I have always had a clean background and record!*

B****y hell, they've put their prices up!
Used to be around the £150 mark...... what were you trying to pinch...gold bars?

It doesn't matter what they demand
1)it is not a fine, it is an invoice for imagined losses
2)you can ignore it. In spite of their implied threats nothing will happen except they will send a stream of letters demanding a sum of money.

When you don't pay or react to them they eventually give up, so just ignore them

Hi! Read all similar topics before asking, everyone seems to have done it “just once” out of stupidity. Question.....if you have done that say, more than once, still out of being stupid/desperate/hell knows what has driven you into doing it... but like all - 100% *learnt the lesson and not touching a single thing without paying for it first..... what are the odds they keep older cctv footage and could start digging through it? Or could they keep in saved on them already? Would they bring it up too? Ps.: No police was involved or photos taken, they just wrote my address and name and said I’ll be waiting for a letter.*

Trolling through CCTV even when time and date of any possible incident is known is a very time consuming job.
To do it on the off chance something will show up is never going to happen, besides which most stores will only retain footage for about 30 days
