  • Early loan settlement figure

Hello everyone - hoping to get a little help with checking the settlement figure I've been quoted. I think it's a little high tbh. I've tried to work this out myself using the example on the relevant government website, but it's not clear at all & all the on-line calculators I've tried won't compute the data either. So I think I need someone familiar with this sort of calculation to help. Thanks in advance

Why don't you write to them and ask them to explain to you how they have calculated the early settlement figure.

Also see the guidance via the link below, Chapter 14 and the worked examples at the end of the document.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've already asked them that very question...still waiting for their response. Although I'm not expecting a response promptly, as "...we've never had that asked before...". Which, is exactly one of the reasons why I'm going to check the figure myself, before just accepting the figure they've sent me. The link, is one of the websites that I've already visited & it is far from clear, to even fathom how they get their numbers from the worked example shown. A teacher should've been involved in the guidance, rather than a lecturer, which may have helped. *Thanks

Hello everyone - Is it possible to resurrect this thread? I have now had their final response (8 weeks to the day) & in keeping with their level of customer service, they have ignored some of my concerns & also refused to elaborate on how they arrived at the settlement figure. I will now escalate this to the Ombudsman. Before I send them anything, I would like to know the settlement figure myself, which I now firmly believe is incorrect. Does anyone know the calculation & what figures to put in where? The examples shown on gov,uk are as clear as mud. I've tried some online calculators & can't get any useful information from them either. Any guidance from anyone with this will be greatly appreciated.
