My partner received a letter and court papers about a train fare, (his friend had pre bought both tickets using his railcard using a student railcard unbeknownst to my partner, he was stopped and statement taken...where he explained he hadn't been aware..... We filled in the court papers and returned pleading not guilty and a trail date would be sent, he did not want a criminal conviction for a £9 fare.
Today received a letter dated the 6th of Feb saying he's failed to make payments and now they will enforce if not received in 10 days.. Had no previous letters about trial etc. Its from London collection and compliance Centre. It says can appeal within 10 days of letter date.. The 6th....ive just received but the post mark is not clear... So my 10 days is up almost... As a side note the letter has my first name wrong, and address is for Neighbour even though I've still received it, but the court letters were correct.*
