Unsigned contract of employment including non compete area

I’ve worked part time for a company for 7 years, I want to leave and work full time. I worked for the first 5 years without a contract, therefore following an assumed contract. 2 years ago I received a contract full of restrictions on future employment within a certain proximity and time scale.....can my employer uphold this?
