  • Hello, Police ignorance despite raising to Proffessional standards and the IOPC.

Hi, Sorry i did not know where to post this. If it could be moved to an appropriate place i'd appreciate that.

I have an ongoing issue regarding the Police, I'm really not sure how to proceed as they seem to be doing their best to ignore, possibly in the hope I forget about their failure and incompetance and don't follow this through. I beliveve the CCTV in question has been destroyed and they are trying to cover this, I have stated that numerous times and I've asked them to prove me wrong.

I was assaulted by Bouncers on a night out, I was drunk but did absolutely nothing wrong, they grabbed me so hard I had 5 bruises from the fingers on my arm, jabbed me in the back and then launched me onto the pavement so I couldn't possibly stay on my feet, I cut my arm on landing. I knew one of them from playing Pool and all I did was say hello to start with, asked him if he was still playing Pool, I got a stone cold stare back, almost as if why are you talking to me.
When they grabbed me I had my phone in my hand and pressed the camera record button.
At the doorway I went back to them and said you can't do that, you cant assault people for no reason, I told them I was due in for an Operation and that they hurt me and then that my phone had been recording (I held it up and recorded them) I told them I intend to take it further, their faces dropped, then quickly one of them reached through the main entrance door and snatched my phone, then locked it, I went mad, I punched the glass and it cracked but i had been calm up until that point, I simply went after my phone, I wanted it back. I have strong principles which is why I confronted them.
The Police turned up and I stated what had happened, I said to him theres lots of witnesses are you going to talk to them but they weren't interested, I looked at the male officer and I said why aren't you getting witnesses, I said right whats your number but he had none on, I said wheres your numbers he pointed to a blank patch on his shoulder and said there it's 1111 or something similar, I said theres nothing there, why are you lying? as soon as I said that he said right in the van. Should he have had numbers on? why would he lie?
They took me home, I asked to go to the station to put in a statement and he said get out the van or I'll drag you out.

So I called 101 back at the beginning of September 19, I told them the above, I said it's assault, mugging and destroying evidence, I asked them what they would call it, I also complained about the officer, he was wearing a body cam and had said it was recording when I asked him.
Since then I have had minimal contact and None whatsoever with the investigating officer (IO), she has just sent a letter saying that she is closing the case as nothing was seen in the CCTV yet I have contradictory evidence that strongly suggests she is lying, I don't believe they ever retrieved that CCTV and that they are covering for that officer.
She viewed that CCTV mid Sept but did not secure it, I was told that in October, I asked why, they said our officers do not carry digital media to which I said surely you go prepared.
In around 8 calls and also in the IOPC written complaint I have stated that I am concerned that the CCTV will be deleted or go missing.
On one occasion after I'd raised my concerns about the footage the IO left me a voicemail stating that I need not be concerned and that she has asked them to save the footage, that she is going back to collect it as soon as she can. She'd first viewed that in September yet was going back to secure it, suggesting that it was worthwhile doing so, yet the recent letter received well over 5 months later states there was nothing in the CCTV and so we are closing the case? Why did she not close it right away in Sept after she had first viewed it?
It doesn't add up, the probability of that CCTV not seeing my phone being snatched is very low, I have a photo of the camera above that door yet despite asking to see that footage for my own piece of mind they have just put up a brick wall of ignorance.

The main nightclub footage would show if I was at fault and also how aggressive those bouncers were, but the key is the doorway that my phone was snatched through, directly above in the corner is a camera facing down that is there to identify anyone coming and going, my phone being taken through that door has to be on that camera (I was holding it around head height), then theres the bodycam footage, I said I'm not making any accusations but it looked like the officer was covering for those bouncers and had removed his numbers.
The IO has tried to contact me on two seperate days, twice on the same day at 2:50pm and 2:55pm (school leaving time) as I was collecting my Boy from school and again at 7pm on the 2nd Nov which was bonfire Saturday, perhaps the loudest and one of the busiest nights of the year. (We were at a display)
I complained to the Police and that went to Proffesional standards (PS), over a week went by and I heard nothing so I sent all of this to the IOPC who redirected immediately back to PS (I had just complained about PS?), I then got a letter from PS stating that I will find out who the Investigating officer is within 28 days, aside from 1 voicemail where the officers name I could not hear I have had no contact and it's now around 3-4 months beyond that. I have called the Police numerous times but can never get hold of the original IO, she's always on leave or on another shift but why hasn't she contacted me.
She has no direct number but the Switchboard have twice connected me to her mobile, which on her voicemail has her shouting her name and giggling on the recorded message, I guess it's her personal phone but still, then her letter came to say she's closing the case and it has basic spelling errors in it, I'm not one to judge but it comes across as so unproffessional.

Part way through this case I spoke to a sergeant who said my name, then "have you not even had a statement taken yet?" in a surprised tone, I told him No and I still have not to this day, Is that normal?, all I have done is 2 days after the incident spoken to a call handler and maybe 4-6 weeks later 2 other people within the Police but not the IO or anybody from that 'investigating team', proffessional standards or the IOPC. I just don't get it. The people I have spoken to have been apologetic and surprised and used the same old excuses that they are busy and she will be investigating, I said "How can they investigate if they have no statement" she couldn't answer but to close it without contact and with the complaints I have made I cannot understand, they must be in breach of their own policies in many areas surely?
When you factor in that I have complained about one of their officers and gone to PS and the IOPC, I recently left the IO another voicemail and then called PS again and all I got was an answer machine and I left a long message asking for a call back, it's now been about 5 or 6 days and I have still had no contact 6 months from the date of the incident, it feels like they are playing for time for some reason or just hoping I go away. That night I lost a phone worth £2-300 but it had all of my kids photos fro the summer on it, the police haven't even asked to see the pictures of the bruises.
The bouncer who I spoke to that night I have come across twice in pool matches, the first time cutting it short he said "I didn't blank you I said your name and asked if you was alright" Then later he said "anyway I wasn't even working that night" to which I said "but you said you spoke to me" he said "oh yeah, that was in the kebab house later on as I was out that night" He was lying clearly but I didn't say much to it, He also said that he had heard my phone was taken, I said are you wiling to make a statemet, he went quiet and obviously wasn't going to do that.
I did tell the police though who said that they would pass it on to the relevant team and that cctv could catch him out if he tells them the same, yet as I say the case has been closed without so much as a statement. Also the Bouncer I saw at Pool said he has had no contact with the Police?
I have made it clear that I will not be satisfied until I have seen the CCTV footage from the club and the police bodycam footage but i have told them that I do not believe they have any of those and that they now need to prove me wrong, I have said that 2 of those 3 will prove what happened.
So can anyone please advise me on what to do next, why wont they talk to me, I've had at least 4-5 promises of call backs and received none.

On another note my Mum had issues around August/september time, my Brother went mad and it was caught on the neighbours CCTV, it was given to the police on a memory stick which the Police lost, so in court that evidence was not available, Im not holding out much hope that the CCTV I need is secure but losing evidence twice in the same month or so for the same family is beyond a joke if it turns out that way isn't it?
