  • Residents' land purchase

I live on a small development with a path around it. Around the path is a narrow strip of land mainly laid to grass with mature trees and bulbs. We have just heard that the company which owns this land intends to auction it on 14th February. Residents are concerned that it could be purchased by the adjacent hospital to provide additional parking or by a company wanting spare land for outside storage. In either case, there is concern that the trees will be taken down and that the outlook from a number of houses will be ruined and the relatively peaceful cul-de-sac destroyed. There is some suggestion that residents might club together to buy the land. How could this be done to create an area of common land? What would be the best vehicle for this prospective purchase?*

If the trees are interesting then approach your local council about getting TPOs on them. Just a bit of a poison chalice for them if you suceed
