  • PCP Voluntary Termination / Financial Ombudsman

    Hi,

I VT'd my car last September, and I have had the usual letters saying I need to pay the mileage excess, which I have challenged using the letter templates from this site. It has now gone to a debt recovery Company as they are saying VW have closed my complaint and are pretty much ignoring my last letter stating the reasons why I do not need to pay the outstanding excess mileage (£1100).

VW are now saying that if I want to escalate this further to dispute the charges I need to contact the Financial Ombudsman, but I am not sure if this is the right thing to do. Should I stand my ground and say I feel the matter is closed as per my final letter, or should I contact the FO?

Does anyone have any experience with this situation and know the best approach? R0b*I have seen your name mentioned quite a lot on these topics, I don't suppose you have any thoughts on it?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

      Hi,

I dont have anything to add that hasn't already been said. There's no harm in complaining to the FOS, but expect a template letter saying they're looking into it (they have been for over a year now) and will get back to you in due course.

Worst case scenario is that the FOS does not uphold your decision and the status quo remains. It's then up to VW to make the next move.

Suggest you search the forum on recent excess mileage posts and the link below which should give you everything you need to know up to the point of legal proceedings being issued.

The short a swerve is either you pay up, or defend it.
