Separation

Hi .me and my partner split after 22 years ,we have 3 children together . He said and the time I had to go as he owned the house ,my name wasn’t on property ,as we never married .so me and children went in to rented accommodation.now he has said I can have house back if I pay him the mortgage money .which is probably cheaper than I am paying to rent ..But is there something I can get in writing to say he can’t change his mind and tell us to go again and him coming round when suits .he did mention he would put a kind of charge on house so he couldn’t ,is this possible ?? I haven’t a clue what to do kids just want there home back or safer to stay in rented ???
