I was caught shoplifting from primark ( stupid I know ) totally not me and out of character. The security guard got me once I left the shop I was like 2 shops down. The security guard took me me to a room and emptied my bag and asked for Id but I didn’t have any on me he said police would need to come then unless I showed my Id so asked if I had proof of address by photo or something I had photo of address but not my name. He wrote my address down and asked for my name and date of birth. he said my options where police or getting a letter for fine but was not helpful on what the fine amount would be as I asked. I went for the fine so no police came and all the stuff was taken off me and not damaged so can be sold still and I was banned from the shop for a yr and the shopping centre 3 months not I’m really worried what is going to happen with fine like how much it’s gonna be as I’ve heard they can be expensive and long it will take to come through and I’m hoping cos the police weren’t involved that nothing is against my name.*

First things first...it is NOT a fine.
In the UK only the courts issue fines.
What you will receive is a letter from a firm called DWF.
This letter will sound all legal and threatening and will ask you to pay around £150 for Primark's costs incurred by your action.
It is a whole lot of dreamed up nonsense and can be ignored.
They will send you a number of increasingly threatening letters, but eventually stop when they realise you are not intimidated and not responding.
Just ignore them

can't say for how long, but you can read their letters here:*https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf
The envelope might just carry DWF logo, but there will be no indication that it is a request for money (NOT A FINE!)
