  • Moorcroft & BG

Hi, I was sent a bill by British gas for over £500 saying they had been estimating my readings incorrectly for the past 18 months. I have tried to set up a payment plan with them but they only offered me to pay over £100 per month which I cannot afford. I asked then to send me copies of the bills with the correct dates showing when the electricity was used so I could confirm it was not from the previous owners. They told me they would send a bill but 3 weeks later I have no bill and a letter from Moorcroft demanding the money. I have always cooperated with BG and tried to arrange payment, it doesn't seem right they can pass the debt over with no warning. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!*

    I don't see your problem.
The bill doesn't rise, utility bills don't go on your credit file so it won't affect you and you can just deal direct with Moorcroft.
Call them and arrange to pay what you can afford. You will find them very amenable as they have no choice but to accept what you can afford.
