  • Delayed kitchen appliances at Christmas

I have had a new kitchen installed and used the same company to buy some new appliances. The appliances were ordered at the end of November and I was repeatedly told that they were on there way. I then found out there was a stock issue with one item that was causing a delay so I asked them to arrange for everything else to be delivered. Having been told there would arrive on the Friday before Christmas, we were then told there was a further delay and to expect the goods on Monday 23rd December. The appliances again didn't arrive and I was informed of a ‘bug’ in the system and not to expect any appliances until the warehouse reopened on 2nd January. We have been left with nothing but a microwave and freestanding fridge from the old kitchen, which I thankfully kept. My question is whether I should pursue a claim for compensation for the significant stress and ruined holiday period - we were due to host a number of events, all of which had to be cancelled, and have now booked a holiday cottage for a week as we simply can’t face another week of microwave meals, especially with a five year old in the house. Any advice very gratefully received!

    Hi & welcome
Sorry to hear about your ruined Christmas.

What do the terms and conditions have to say about acceptance and delivery of orders?
Can you post a link to an online site?

Anticipate they have tried to cover their backs, but it might be possible to negotiate a price reduction by way of acknowledgement of their part in spoiling the festivities for you
