Just returned to my car to find a ticket from a private parking company for parking on private land, can I ignore this as it isn't council? also no signs clearly visible just derelict land.

No you can'rt ignore it, it could end up in court. Edit your post so that the identity of the driver cannot be inferred. Use "the driver ....." etc.
You appeal the ticket AS THE KEEPER who has been handed the windscreen ticket so that the appeal arrives on day 26, two days before they are allowed to access the DVLA for the keepers details. Keep up a conversation with them in the hope that they don't issue a Notice to Keeper before day 56 or don't access the DVLA to request keeper details. Either is a failure to meet the requirements of POFA to be able to hold the keeper liable for the actions of the unknown driver.
If you can take pictures of the area to show that there are no signs visible.
P.S. It's not a fine, it's an invoice for an alleged each of conditions of parking.
