DWP try to recover Pension Credit after saying it was written off.

I was one of 3 executors to my fathers will who died in March 2018 .
After various communications with DWP they told me in March 2019 that the overpayment debt was written off.
They have recently stated there is now £9000 pension credit overpayment outstanding.
Can they still claim this amount after stating the case would be Written off.
This in Scotland.

The DWP can still ask for the money. But their computations will usually be guestimates and not based on any real facts apart from assets at the time of death.. This is because they are expected to at least try to get money back where they can, and even where they know their case is extremely weak they will write asking for money to be repaid in the hope that nice people will just send it to them.

But if you resist it is highly likely they will forget about it because their claim is more suspected than provable in court.
