Mother in law has recently passed on. The vultures are circling. There are properties in France and Portugal. There is an old will in existence that bares no resemblance to the here and now. She has since had a partner that contributed significant funds into what they had. We want to do what’s right and ensure her partner doesn’t end up homeless. They were not married. The will states that everything is to be split between my wife and her sister.*

Sorry to hear of your loss.
There is no real problem.
The will can be changed as long as the beneficiaries involved agree.
It is done by making a variation, which can be done by a simple letter.
