  • Hello everyone... I have a DWP enquiry/problem

Morning .... My husband passed away thirteen weeks ago, and I had been his carer for the last 12 years.... also I have a chronic illness and he was my carer for many years....Although I am 65, I do not receive my pension until 05/20....This has left me with no other option but to go down the UC route... I have been granted compulsory 'Bereavement easement' until the end of Feb 2020 ... leaving 2/12 to go my SP .... Whilst all of this is going on, the DWP have called me for a One to One Health Assessment on the 10th Dec....I suffer anxiety with panic attacks.. so am really stressed and at my wits end!...My observations are... surely, as the UC have placed me on compulsory Bereavement easement, to cope with the death of my husband, surely they have a DUTY OF CARE to postpone the one to one until at least the end of this..... leaving 2/12 to retirement....* Any advice would be appreciated!

    Hi,
So sorry for your loss. Have a look at this article ;https://www.24housing.co.uk/news/dwp...pport-payment/
, it may assist you in your understanding.
I would also recommend that you talk to your local Citizens Advice who have been given a large sum of money by the DWP to assist you and should have dedicated staff who deal with all things UC related.
Unfortunately a 'duty of care' is not something they would recognise.
