They did this in the form of an email which was really helpful as it helped me draft a reply to Vertill which was relevant to my specific case. I had another reply but stood my ground and told them that if it went to court I would be happy to defend my case as the bill was inaccurate. The best thing to do is speak to citizens advice first as well and then maybe a solicitor. If you can’t afford the solicitor fee (you need one who has dealt with PI claims before) then you can dispute this with Vertill via email, tell them that the bill is unfair and unreasonable as they’ve likely charged you the same for a senior solicitor and a paralegal. After 8 weeks or when they give you their final answer on your case you can take this to SRA (send forms and a £45 cheque) or the legal ombudsman (unsure of these fees) and they will impartially make a decision on this case.

    hope this helps!
It sure does, thank you, it seems you have the same issues I have.

Thanks KeithMay, surely this can't be right when i haven't received any correspondence from JCA in over 5 years, asking for a payment to then suddenly be asked to make a payment the administration company who have taken over.

Hi Did you get anywhere with this?
I have just had a final demand from Vertill....what is worrying is that I wrote to them back in June and asked for more information and to supply me with copies of paperwork that I'm supposed to have received, signed and sent back to JCA in 2015....I have challenged this of course as I have never had any forms to sign. Vertill's letter states that they have had no reply from me with regards to their first demand correspondence but fortunately I sent my response via Special delivery which was signed for! They have totally ignored my request for information...any ideas what to do now as they have given me 14 days to pay or the half price offer will be withdrawn!
        Thanks in advance

I'm in the same boat! Received letter from Vertill which includes a CFA not signed or dated by JCA, has a scanned signature which doesn't even look like my signature, and a date.

I don't even recall signing anything with JCA, though I did find an email from JCA for a medical appointment which I must not have attended.

Now I don't even recall ever speaking or accepting JCA to act on my behalf, nor sign any doc from them. I used a separate firm for my claim.

          Looking at reviews on https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/vertill.co.uk
They seem to be pulling this same scam to thousands to try and get some money back after going into administration. Dirty tactics and I definitely won't be paying a penny to them!

I just need to figure out what to do, to close this off.

Hi, have you received any further letters following the Final demand. I too have received a letter demanding payment.

It looks like Leonard Curtis, the administrators of JC&A, did a deal with Vertill to recover 'wasted costs' https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/practic...071010.article

I would consider making a formal complaint to Leonard Curtis. I'd also advise talking to SRA to see if they can assist in any way.

Hi have you received any further communication from Vertill. I have not communicated with them and have now received a final notice letter. Information would be appreciated.
