  • a childs inheritance

We were told my stepmother had left her house to her son which was a lie. When I got a copy of the will after 6 months I found out she left a third of her estate to my 13 year old son. The house has been sold and now found out my son's share will be put in trust which wasn't stated in the will. is this legal? the executor was her new partner who has been found out to be a complete liar and was hoping we wouldn't find out my son had inherited. What can we do to get the money for my son?

A child is not able to inherit until they are legally old enough to receive the funds
Typically, gifts made to a minor are held in trust until the child reaches the age of 18 (though the will can specify an older age). That means that the trustees (often the executors of the will) look after the inheritance until then.
