  • Halifax CC

Hi I joined in May but have been trying to resolve matters myself. I am now in a position where I feel I need help as I don’t know how to take in further. Will post details if anyone can advise. I got a Halifax CC in 2002 & in 2012 I owed approx £5000 I applied for loan with Halifax to pay it off. It was refused & now I owe £11199.00. Since 2012 I have paid more than £16k in Interest. In March as I couldn’t keep on paying as it was starting to affect my other outgoings I stopped payments, they put a default on my account last month. Yesterday I received a letter from Link Financial informing me they have bought the debt. Today it has been put on my credit report. What should I do next. I wrote to Halifax requesting copy of original agreement & original T&Cs from the time of taking out the CC. The copy of the agreement is not in my writing nor is the signature & the T&Cs are more recent T&Cs. As we are now 17 years on I cannot remember whether I applied in the bank or online. I sent a separate letter to Halifax stating I did not think I had been treated fairly, their reply was that they didn’t agree & because it was older than 3 years there was nothing I could do about a complaint. That even the Ombudsman would most likely not look at it. The last few years I have paid the Interest only until I stopped payment in March.
