Me and my friend got caught shoplifting in primark today. they said i have to pay a fine but wait for the letter to be posted through. We took concealer and mascara that total was £5.50. I want to know how much the fine will be? and also because it wasn’t a lot that we stole it could be cheaper?

The good news: it ain't a fine.
Fines are only imposed by the courts in the UK
You (both of you probably) will receive a letter requesting you pay the sender (firm called RLP) an amount around £150 each.
It will sound awfully legal and scary.
Ignore it.
Do not reply, do not contact them
They have no right to your money, and despite what they infer they will not start any court proceedings.
Last time they tried that some years ago, they lost heavily and haven't tried again
