  • EFL Find Football Player Guilty of Racism following Court Acquittal

The Board of the English Football League (EFL) has found a player guilty of racism, resulting in that player being fined and suspended by the EFL, directly after a criminal law trial of the player found him Not Guilty of those same charges on the same evidence and circumstances. How can the actions of the EFL be lawful? Is their action libellous in defaming the player after he was acquitted in Court? I don't understand how the EFL can get away with this. Say if the player was a direct employee of the EFL and they took this action against him, under these circumstances, it would breach employment law wouldn't it?

Moshe Strugano says "Responding to the racist incidents at association football matches, the international authorized body of association football, in May 2013, FIFA, introduces new measures to deal with racism". We can read their details online.
