  • Landlord broke building regs?

    Hi all,

Hoping i could get some kind of guidance,

The property i'm living in used to be a house, the landlord has turned it into two apartments.
But i have recently realised that there was no electrical meter for the upstairs apartment. He has installed some small trip switch at the front door now, but that power is definitely coming from my distrubution board.
I have also just realised that the other apartment has never received a bill for council tax, so as far as i can gather, he hasn't registered the other property with the council and imagine he is saving himself money somehow.
I am about to give my notice, but want half of what i paid in electric and council tax back!

What are my options, I have thought of reporting him to the council. But not sure i'll see any of the money he owes me then.

    Any help would be great,

    Thanks in advance
