Voluntary termination preparation

I’ve been advised by a local garage to go through VT as the car will start to encounter issues given it’s nearly 9 years old. The finance is in my brothers name and I’m concerned about VT damage charges I would say my car is in great condition for its age max of like 2 scratches and a few allow scuffs quite small and I’m just so scared about a massive bill coming through the post which I’ll be unable to pay. It’s going to Manheim auctions, do they check I dept turbo issues?
