Accountant has my tax refund
Hi I am self employed
I have had a arrangement with an accountant where I do jobs for him and he has done my tax returns. One year I didn't do any jobs for him and I paid him
That was fine as a sole trader. I'm now a limited company.
About a year ago he did my last sole trader books and he had the cis tax refund paid into his account as my agent.
. he has now completed one years books for a limited company and also a self assessment as limited company.
Anyway he is not very good and not claiming my refunds. Doing payroll late bot replying for weeks either.
Anyway he had my cis refund money from my last sole trader Accounts which he has had since February.
Im trying to buy a house and in now owed about 12000 from hmrc plus the money in his account. So am trying to change accountants he's not giving the new accountant the info he needs. He isn't telling me if i owe him anything. And he isn't responding to me asking about my refund. I've been asking him since February.
What do I do. Can I take him to court or write him a letter. Is he allowed to withhold my money
