  • Voluntary termination

Just dealing with pretty threatening letters and constant phone calls from finance company since I voluntarily terminated my contract after 3 and a half years. I am now being pursued for excess mileage for £407. I have used legalbeagles template quoting the relevant consumer credit legislation, however, they do not accept this and have sent a lengthy letter full of legalese, clearly to baffle me and make me pay the amount asked for. I will now advise them that I wish to go to the financial ombudsman, do you think this is the correct course of action? I feel strongly about not paying this as even the salesman who sold me the pcp told me if i terminated before the 4 years was up there would be no excess mileage to pay. When the car was collected the inspector said my car was in excellent condition for it's age but as I had a scuff mark on the bumper and on one of my alloys l would be charged £114 of which l would have paid seeing as l did the damage. I haven't even been asked for this which is strange. Any advice would be appreciated.
