B&Q ban

Hi first post. I got banned from B&Q for alleged shoplifting. I was checking out some new brushes for a painting job and was looking for the wife to get her bank card. As I didn't find her I dumped the stuff and went to get my phone from the car to phone her see where she was. Anyway as I got outside I was gripped by a couple of guys who then took me to an office and accused of shoplifting. They had the brushes and the packaging which was not damaged I told them I was going to get my phone to get the cash off my wife they where having none of it and banned me giving me a civil recovery notice with the ban. As there was no loss to B&Q can they legally enforce any civil recovery as the police where not involved so no police charge. Even if I had nicked the stuff as no damage was caused I'd be suspicious of Thier rights to recover a fine. Any advice appreciated.
