Good afternoon,
I am hoping someone can be of help. My grandmother passed away suddenly in March this year, I knew I was the executor of her will but never really gave it much thought as I didn't think I'd be dealing with it as soon as this. Her estate is small and made up of jewelry, cash at bank and some small penny policies that have been paid out. Jewelry has been left to myself and sister and the money has to be split between family members. I haven't registered anything with the courts in Scotland as the banks and insurance company were happy to pay out to me without confirmation. Can I now go ahead and distribute the money left after having paid my grans debt and charity donations or should the will be registered or something before hand. I am worried this will come back on me if I have not done it correctly.
The overall estate value is around £11,000.00.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read my query.
