I've known one or two people be successful due to petty offences but couldn't give you the details. I'm not sure if it is out of date but the link below provides a helpful explanation of how to go through the process, timescales and how to improve your chances of being successful (see step 5).

They may have some concern over the fact you've had a conviction of ABH both as a child and an adult. You probably need to address that as I expect that would come up on the interview stage. If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

Yes thats 1 of my worries too, ABH does cover anything from as minimal as a graze or scratch and thats exactly what it was, 2 very childish fights over 2 boys looking back its absolutely ridiculous, hasnt happened again nor would it ever. I hope that 11 years drama free as of next year will show I am not the idiot I once was, but I guess its a roll of the dice on the day.

So long as you can explain it and make it sound plausible then I'm sure they would understand especially as a child because you know, boys will be boys.
Some other points for success not listed on that link that might assist you as part of your application might be to get a reference from your employer or if you are a family man you can also use that as an example of how settled down you are and your younger days are behind you.
Courtesy and politeness goes a long way especially in these cases since the power is in the hands of the interviewer.
I dont know if its permitted but if you do have a partner, find put if they can come with you to the embassy as support. Always a conversation starter and assume it can only be a good thing to see someone who is tied in a relationship. If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. https://www.official-esta.com/esta-r...sta-questions/ Travelling to the US – Do I need a visa?
What questions are asked on the ESTA form?
The questions asked about criminal convictions on the ESTA website are as follows:- Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?
- Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using or distributing illegal drugs?
- Do you seek to engage in or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities, espionage, sabotage or genocide?
- Have you ever committed fraud or misrepresented yourself to obtain, or assist others to obtain, a visa or entry into the United States?
If you can answer no to the above questions, then you shouldn't need a VISA. So long as you hold a passport from a VISA waiver Country.

Oh, it's gonna be hard to get VISA if you have a criminal record. The USA has some strict policies about the criminal past of potential visa candidates, so you can get easily rejected by them. But sometimes they can be "kind" and approve your application. Don't know what's the situation in the covid era now, but in the past, you usually had small chances to be approved. And yeah, American agents can simply get a criminal background check all over the world, so it doesn't make sense trying to hide the reality.

Under US Immigration law, if you have been arrested at any time, you are required to declare the arrest when applying for a visa. If the arrest resulted in a conviction, you may be permanently ineligible to receive a visa.
