Hello My wife tripped over a collapsed AA roadsign in York and smashed her glasses and phone , ripped her jeans and damged her hand which is painful to this point ( the fall was early December last year 2018) We rightly tried to claim form York city council but they are denying responsibilty. Surely they have a duty of care to ensure the streets are safe and this was caused by their negligence? Thanks

    hi and welcome

As it was an AA road sign, why do you believe the city council were responsible?

What sort of sign and in what way was it collapsed?
Do you know how long it was in that collapsed state?
Were the council or other responsible party aware it was collapsed?
Should they have been aware it was in that condition?

Proving negligence is more than just showing the hazard was there,
