Hi just need some advice lowell have sent me a letter saying. That if I contact them then they are sending this debt to there solicitor for court proceedings. They say I owe talk talk. I have checked and the last payment with talk talk was just over 6 years ago. This is the first I have heard about any outstanding debt. I don't no how to check to see if they have put a default on my credit file.if they haven't can they still chase me for it.

Use the free Noddle or Clearscore credit checking services to check your credit rating.
MSE also has Credit Club

Just because Lowell are chasing, doesn't mean that they are correct, or legally able, to enforce this.

You need hard evidence.
SAR both Lowell & Talk Talk for all the data they hold on the account.
If you paid via a bank or credit card, also SAR them for info.

Shake their trees, see what drops out!
(Like I did.....the info allowed me to tell them to 'jog on!')
