    Hi and welcome.

Can you give us more details about the incident please.

Presumably your friend was not involved and there is no proof of any wrong doing by him.
How long has he been employed by Asda?

Hello and thank you for the reply yes he's been there for 11 years now and no he had no part of it I only spoke to him for a few minutes as I bumped into him he had no idea I what I was intending on doing the thing is I'm worried because not only was I stopped by security at the door but for some reason they didn't take me to the room or anything they just said I can't pay and they walked off what does this mean? I'll admit I did it a few times before because I had no money for food the total value was around 76 pounds what shall I do shall I turn myself in to try and save his job? What will happen to me ?

So did the security personnel take your name & address?
Was the £76 the total over several incidents, or the value of goods in the latest incident?

Regarding your friend I do not see what good it will do him if you return.
Your credibility will be low or non existent, so they are unlikely to believe whatever you tell them .
i suppose they are looking to see if there was any collusion between you and your friend
As there was none he should be cleared of any wrong doing and his job safe
Has he been suspended whilst the investigation progresses?
Has he asked or suggested you return to the store with him?

I don't know what's going on as he won't tell me and the good in the trolly was £76 but I didn't attempt to leave the store on this occasion I only went to speak to someone and I got called over he took no details and all he said was next time make sure I got money to pay as he walked off

Should I expect correspondance from the police? And what will happen to me ?

I wouldn't be expecting anything from the police, and nothing will be happening to you.
If you gave your name and address you will probably receive letters from some civil recovery company (probably DWF) asking for some exorbitant sum of money for some imagined costs. This letter (and subsequent begging letters) can be ignored

Your friend won't tell you what is happening as either he doesn't know, or he doesn't want you approaching his employer and making matters worse.
