  • Equita collector

Hi I was reading a previous post which was posted on here one year ago and wondered if things had changed any! So any help anyone can provide would be brilliant.
Last year on December 22 we get one hand written letter in our post box, about, that we owe for the Council tax some amount, honestly I don’t remember how much it was, but around 120 £ plus commission and we have to pay 550 pounds. It was one phone number on the paper as well, so straight away I called the agent and he started to shouting for me that I have to pay this amount, otherwise I will see what goes happening.
I would like to mention that we really payd our Council Tax monthly and we had some late payments too, but on 21 of December the whole amount of the bill was payd.
Today Is just arrived home after 9 pm, and around 9.30 I get one new letter again from Equita, written with big letters on it: Removal Notice. They mention something about outstanding Council Tax. I just checked my online account on the Council website, but my outstanding balance is 0 £ since 21 of December.
In this letter they write that one Enforcement Officer will call at our home to take control of our goods. Is no amount mentioned how much they want, but why I need to pay anything if I don’t owe nothing to the Council. What should I do now?
Thank you for any help and sorry if this thread is somewhere else, I can’t sleep with the worry and thought I might be able to get some quick advice.
Sorry for my English as well, my mother tongue is Hungarian, but hope you can understand me.
Thank you so so much for any help.
