So how long ago did you purchase the car? Since the car is owned by the HP company have you complained to them about the defective car?
Have you looked at the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ? If you are within 30 days of purchase you have an automatic right of rejection for defective goods. Up till 6 months you have to give them one attempt at repair and then reject if they can't fix. It is assumed that the defect was there at purchase unless the dealer can show that it was not.
