  • Has an assault been committed

I could do with some help here. I was recently assaulted by a man. He chased me with a dog, threw stones in my face. I lifted my hand to protect my eyes. While I had my hands covered, he grabbed my hand and bit it. I complained to the police but he is good friends with the police and they all call him Chris. I have strong evidence that he is a police informer. I gave my statement to the police and waited 3 weeks. I got an email from the officer in charge saying “During the interview WEAVER gave an account admitting to biting but stated he did so in self-defence”. No further action.

I had said that this might happen as on a previous occasion he made a counter claim and I was told “If I arrest him then I will have to arrest you”. They do not want this man convicted. He is more valuable on the street then in prison.

Has a crime been committed? If he bit my hand in self defense it is not an assault. I am happy to go to court with this. 6 years ago. I made a complaint and a statement. I was told that the person could not have done this. I asked what he said in his statement and was told “I can’t tell you what is in his statement”. Can the police do this? What if he lied? I could prove it.

It sounds like you have a serious allegation you wish to make about the police. The easiest course you need to follow is to make an official complaint.

Bringing a private prosecution, as you seem to be suggesting, is really quite difficult.
