  • Parking Eye Wrong Registration Number entered

I used a car park operated by Parking Eye. I entered the wrong registration number of my relatively new car, and paid for the two hour minimum period. I left after 50 mins and thought no more about it. I note from your Forum that others in a similar position had their charge cancelled. On providing a copy of my parking ticket I received a response saying that they would reduce the charge to £20.00 if not paid they would pursue me for the £100.00. I responded asking what the £20.00 was for and explained that as I had paid I treat the matter as closed. I have made an appeal to POPLA, who's procedures contain a "Known Fault" i.e. it does not automatically show the evidence supplied by Parking Eye. They did forward me the evidence to which I have responded within the 7 day period they outline. I will keep you informed of the outcome of my appeal to POPLA. I feel as if this procedure is deliberately designed to make the average person give up and pay, so please do not fall foul of their bamboozling. One hope that common sense will prevail.

With a wrong number then POPLA will probably refuse the appeal as the parking ticket was issued correctly.. POPLA don't have any evidence from PE, they only supply that when they know you are going to appeal. You should have refuted every PE statement if you can.

When POPLA turn down the appeal you can just sit tight, as you are entitled to, and wait for PE to start court proceedings for their usual amount of £175. The fact that you entered an incorrect number can be construed as incidental to the contract as the intention of the contract was to pay for parking supplied, which you did.
