    Any help to this would be much appreciated.
    A 25 year old stabbed his friend in the chest then tried jumping out of a high up window. Luckily no serious injuries were caused but stitches needed spent few hours in hospital.But could have been a lot worse.

    The one who did the stabbing had drug induced psychosis and cannot remember what he did and is on bail pending investigation.First offence and has aspergus .The victim has told police what happened and said the one who did it wasn't in his right mind Etc but wants him to get help.Doesanyone know what

      Maximum sentence is life imprisonment and the likely sentence will be between 3 - 16 years. Being in a drug induced frenzy isn't a good excuse unless your friend had no control over the administering of the drugs, ie: being spiked or on prescription drugs prescribed by his doctor. It may be possible to get the CPS to accept a plea to the lower charge of section 20 which could make quite a bit of difference.
      I had a friend once who was charged with a section 18 and ended up after clever negotiation accepting to be bound over to keep the peace.

        You will need to check the sentencing guidelines that the magistrates and the crown uses. Just type sentencing guidelines in google and it should come up. If you are a lay person, is difficult to understand how it works. I think Legal aid may be available in this case, so look for criminal law solicitors who have legal aid contract with the legal aid agency. Good luck
