For the last twenty-five years...a climbing plant has grown from my garden.covering the roof of my outhouse and covered next doors...whilst i can understand that they might wish to cut it all back to the shared ridge tiles...and entitled to do so...Would it not be common curtesy to at least tell me..so that i could at least try and save the plant over my half of the roof..??..Today i arrived home to find they had indeed slaughtered the plant and thrown all the cut backs over their roof across back on to mine...i was just wondering have i any rights over the cut back on how they have seemed fit to simply throw it all over my roof.???...sigh... Many thanks...

your neighbour is allowed to cut it back to the boundary line. If it has damaged their property or caused say problems with guttering they are well within their rights to sue you for any costs incurred.
Again legally speaking the tree is yours so any cuttings/branches are still yours regardless who trims/cuts it.
Yes again logic doesn't prevail much, it would have been better to speak first about cutting etc and maybe you could have arranged for the work to be done or done it yourself but they didnt, and as long as they have not surpassed the boundary they have done nothing wrong.Last edited by james_law; 4th August 2018, 04:57:AM.The information I supply is provided for informational purposes only and, should not be construed as legal advice.
