Urgently need some advice ladies. I booked a group weekend away for 6 adults and 9 kids back in May at a place we’ve stayed before (group of barns in Northumberland). It’s for 3 nights on the August bank holiday. The booking was accepted and I paid the deposit requested. The lady who owns them text me today to say we can no longer have the largest barn as someone wants to book it for 2 weeks starting that weekend and it’s more money for her that she can’t turn down. She has offered us a different smaller barn to the one we booked but I’m not happy with that as it means kids sleeping in the lounge on sofa beds. Is there anyone in this business who knows if we have any rights here or is she just allowed to do this???? Thanks

Although not certain, paying the deposit has entered you and the 3rd party into a contract. She cannot simply say its more money for her for the other parties who have asked, she should have marked the barns as booked for your party and not accepted those two weeks, regardless if she misses out financially.
