Up until today, we had had no letters from any courts or debt collection agencies about an alleged speeding ticket. We just had a bailiff turn up the doorstep from Collectica telling us we owed £624 in unpaid fines and court costs to be paid by tomorrow or they'd have our car clamped and taken away, incurring more costs on top. We haven't got that kind of money. We're on social securities benefits due to the fact that I'm disabled, and we're already in debt. They won't even let us make arrangements to pay in installments. The court are saying it's Royal Mail's fault we haven't received any letters from them. The Royal British Legion are saying they can't help (my husband is ex forces) and we are struggling to get through to the CAB. What are we supposed to do?

Check if bailiffs should treat you as vulnerable
You can be vulnerable in lots of different situations, for example if:- you’re disabled
- you’re seriously ill
- you have mental health problems
- you have children or are pregnant - especially if you’re a single parent
- your age makes it hard for you to deal with bailiffs - usually if you’re under 18 or over 65
- you don’t speak or read English well
You can also be classed as vulnerable if you’ve been through recent stressful or emotional circumstances. For example becoming unemployed, being a victim of crime, or having someone close to you die.
Tell the bailiffs if you’re a carer, relative or friend acting for someone vulnerable who has a debt. Explain the person’s vulnerability and the bailiffs should be willing to talk to you instead
