Currently in a battle with a solicitors firm over my late mother in laws will, she was mentally ill for almost her whole adult life and at the time of making this will was unwell. Needing some guidance in a few areas if possible and will go into greater detail when needed. Thank you.

Hi Mickeysears,
As Des8 mentions, someone who is mentally ill does not necessarily lack the capacity to instruct a Will to be prepared or executed. We would need more information about the situation to be in a position to point you in the right direction.
What are you doing battle with the solicitor about? There are several ways to possibly contest a Will. It is not an easy case to prove and the person raising the challenge also has to be in a certain class of person, for example a child of the deceased. There are also time limits for any challenge, so it is important that you obtain advice as soon as possible if you believe you have a potential claim.
Maybe a little more information, what the issue is, when your MiL passed away and why someone wishes to challenge the Will would help us try and point you in the right direction.I am a qualified solicitor and am happy to try and assist informally, where needed.

If in doubt you should always seek professional face to face legal advice.
