  • VT car and repairs

I found some very helpful information on here about the right ways to VT a car. But I am unsure on one thing. I have been told after 3 years that my car (which was purchased new on a PCP) needs a new catalytic converter. It’s done less than 35000 miles. It’s not covered by warranty as catalytic converters come under wear and tear according to the warranty policy that I have. It’s going to cost over £900 to replace. I simply do not have the money as I still have a year left on the PCP. This is not the first thing to go wrong with this car that’s not covered by the warranty but I’ve paid for other repairs as they weren’t that much. I’m thinking of using my right to VT and getting another car as I’m worried that there are more problems to come. I know I won’t have to pay excess millage (I’m over by about 2000 miles because I wasn’t allowed to increase my allowance once I’d realised I’d do more). But what about replacing the catalytic converter? If the warranty company won’t replace it because it comes under wear and tear, does that mean the finance company can’t say that it is beyond fair wear and tear?
