  • Lease car return - My repairs carried out to unacceptable standard! Advice please

Hi. I am hoping someone might point in the right direction.

I had a lease car (18 month lease on a 66 plate car from new) that was due to be returned, and it required a little bit of work on a couple of panels / wheels (a few dings, kerbed alloys etc etc). Looking at the terms & conditions of return, I had to ensure that vehicle was returned with all work carried out to a high standard (which is the way it should be). There was also 1 small rust spot (approx 3mm) which I had repaired.

Anyway, inspection took place and all the work that was carried out has been flagged as needing to be put right, and the report I was given estimates the cost to put it right.

I had the work done at 2 local (highly reviewed garages).

I have receipts of the work carried out - I paid for 1 by debit card & 1 by cash

I almost have a phobia when it comes to dealing with garages & builders. I can see them setting their dogs or heavies on to me (trust e, I speak from experience!)

Garage 1: Had a possible supermarket trolley dent that was repaired on front door & front wing & resprayed. The dent is a good repair, but not the respray which is highlighted in the final report.

Garage 2: Alloy wheels x2 repaired but poorly - mentioned in report & the paintwork to remove rust spot poorly done & mentioned in the report.

So Garage 1 - their paintwork isnt acceptable. Garage 2 - Nothing was acceptable.

Where do I stand with regards to work carried out? And what should I do. The inspector also mentioned the rust shouldn't have been touched as its part if the warranty but the paperwork I received said I had to ensure there was no rust etc on the vehicle (which is confusing!)

Thanks your being patient enough to read this.
