I am preparing to VT my Mercedes and am aware that they are likely to be incredibly difficult in doing so and reading previous posts on here this reflects these fears. I am over mileage as due to family / work more mileage was covered. There is some damage to my vehicle due to building work on my estate and the car getting knocked and also being "trollied" in a local supermarket with no-one obviously claiming responsibility. It has been suggested to me that as the car will be auctioned then the costs Mercedes will incur will be less than me paying for the damage and the fact is, if I get repairs done they could still accuse me this is below "their standard". My thoughts were to get three quotes, inclusive of Mercedes on the basis that if they try and charge me excessively for any repairs then I have a case to argue? or would it be more sensible to simply get the repairs done, prove it and then they have no case? All the repairers are aware of the industry standard and not unprofessional outlets - thoughts?
