  • As a beneficiary to my late fathers will am I entitled to an interim payment.

I am one of the main beneficiaries to my late fathers estate, his Solicitors were made the Executors, probate was granted, bank accounts emptied, property sold and new owners moved in a couple of months age, Notice placed in Gazette for any outstanding debts or monies owed to my fathers Estate and the time limit has well expired. Can I apply for an Interim Payment, my father passed away late April 2017.

    Hi and welcome
You can always ask for an interim payment if the executors have not yet finalised everything.
They may or may not accommodate you, so if you have a special reason (eg cash flow problems) do tell them why you are requesting a payment.
THey may clear the request with other beneficiaries first to forestall questions.

Seems like an age and all you really want is closure. The solicitor is protecting himself against a claim on the estate, as he as executor will be held responsible. The only good thing is the money he is holding should be in a deposit account and any interest gained also payable to you.
